Albany, GA – Six-Vehicle Collision at Hwy 19 & Canuga Dr Intersection

Albany, GA (December 3, 2021) – At 6 p.m. on the evening of Friday, December 3, a six-vehicle collision occurred at an intersection in Albany.

According to Lee County officials, the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 19 and Canuga Drive. Five vehicles were stopped in a line in traffic when a vehicle did not stop in time, crashing into the group. This set off a chain-reaction collision that led to extensive damages to several of the vehicles.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. Two people, who have not yet been identified, were injured in the accident and hospitalized. They are expected to recover from their injuries.

Due to the severity of the accident, a large portion of the road was blocked at the intersection for some time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.

The driver who caused the accident, identified as a 51-year-old man, was cited for following too closely.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
